Priest George Maksimov visited the community in Lira as part of a missionary group.

“After a long and detailed conversation, the three priests and the entire community jointly decided to transfer to the Russian Orthodox Church,” said Metropolitan Leonid.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that on February 13, 2022, the first liturgy was celebrated in Uganda on the antimension of the Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa, which was officiated jointly by Priest Georgy Maksimov and Priest David Lakvo.
