Met Theodore urges Kamyanets-Podilsky authorities to remove obscene banners
Metropolitan Theodore of Kamyanets-Podilsky and Horodok requests the mayor of Kamyanets-Podilsky Mikhail Positko to remove swear words from banners on the streets and in public transport. The appeal of the UOC hierarch to the mayor, the text of which is available to the UOJ, says that swearing is prohibited by the Holy Scriptures, programs children to incivility and insults Ukrainian culture.
“Distributing swear words on the air, on billboards, on fence elements, at checkpoints, to whom do we address these words? Putin? His occupying soldiers? Or are we still pouring it all on our own people, who are the first to read and see it all?” writes Metropolitan Theodore.
The bishop of the UOC asks Mayor Positko, within the framework of his authority, to prevent obscenities from appearing in public places and to ensure that banners and public transport feature words of prayers to God for the soldiers and volunteers, for the recovery of the wounded and the repose of those who died in the war.
As the UOJ reported, the UOC posted banners with prayers to the Mother of God and saints for the protection of Cherkasy.
