UOC Chancellor: God gives victory to those who obey His commandments
Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reminded the faithful in his video sermon that victory in the war depends on everyone.
“Now there is a war in our Motherland. We hear about the course of hostilities, watch the news, worry about everyone who is suffering now, mourn for the dead, and together we yearn for the end of this war,” Vladyka said.
He noted that politicians and military experts assess the approach of victory by the number and power of weapons, the number of soldiers, and the professionalism of the generals.
“St. Nicholas of Serbia says that the end of wars is declared by eternal infallible justice. It is not weapons that give victory to the people but God. But whom does he give it? The one who has an unshakable faith and fulfills His law,” said the UOC Chancellor.
Vladyka Anthony emphasized that neither weapons, nor diplomacy, nor anything material will help the wicked leaders.
“The people who, together with the leaders, remain faithful to Christ, will emerge victorious from the war, regardless of their numbers, culture and weapons. This is what St. Nicholas of Serbia says,” he recalled.
“It is hard for non-Christians to understand this, but this principle really works: the fate of the country and the people depends on each of us. Everyone can and should work to win. It can be an intense prayer, it can be a shelter for refugees, it can be a word of comfort for someone who is on the verge of despair, and even silence on insults on social networks can also be a feat. Only in this way will we win,” resumed Metropolitan of Boryspil and Brovary.
As reported, Metropolitan Anthony compared the UOC's situation to that of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste.
