NSDC Head: Laity will decide the fate of UOC as it suits best for the state

The head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexei Danilov believes that the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be terminated at the initiative of its parishioners. He said this during the All-Ukrainian telethon, espresso.tv reports.

“I believe it will be done by the laity. And they will definitely do it. Because everything related to Moscow must be destroyed on the territory of Ukraine,” said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, speaking about the ban on the activities of the UOC.

“In our country, de-Russification should take place in all areas of our life: in the economy, in politics and in other areas of our life. But as far as the Church is concerned, this should be decided by the laity, and I am more than sure that 99% of the parishioners of this or that church will definitely decide as it is necessary in favor of our state,” Danilov summed up.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to the statement of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the bill to ban the activities of the UOC would not be considered in the near future.
