Deputies did not come: Head of Rivne Regional Council fails to ban UOC
On June 3, 2022, an extraordinary session of the Rivne Regional Council was held, at which its head Sergei Kondrachuk brought up only one issue – a ban on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. However, the decision could not be made due to the lack of the necessary quorum at the meeting, the press service of the Rivne diocese reports in its Telegram channel.
There were no other items on the agenda. The diocese notes that the action, which took place on June 3 in the session hall of the Rivne Regional Council, "can safely be called a ‘one-man show’."
Recall that on May 28, 2022, Sergei Kondrachuk announced he would liquidate the UOC in the Rivne region, and earlier called the ban on the UOC his life's work.
The UOJ also reported that Kondrachuk personally participated in the seizure of nine churches, some of which he personally broke open with a crowbar.
