Zelensky signs the law on ratification of Istanbul Convention
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed the law on the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The Head of State announced this on Instagram.
“Signed! The Law on the Ratification of the Istanbul Convention. Its main content is simple, but extremely important. It is an obligation to protect women from violence and all forms of discrimination. We share European values. For us, human life and health is the highest value,” Zelensky wrote.
As reported by the UOJ, on June 20, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada supported the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The UOC, the AUCCRO and the Miriane public union opposed the signing of the convention.
