Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) removed from the Presidential Council
Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary was removed from the Russian Presidential Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations. The corresponding order of the head of State was published on July 5, 2022, on the official portal of legal information.
Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, the new head of the DECR ROC, joined the Council in place of Vladyka Hilarion.
As reported, Metropolitan Anthony (Sevruk) replaced Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) as head of the Department for External Church Relations of the ROC by a decision of the Holy Synod held on June 7, 2022.
