UOC tells of Great Processions of the past on Day of the Baptism of Rus

Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky spoke about the five Great Processions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2015-2019 and the traditions of celebrating the Day of the Baptism of Rus on the air of the "1 Kozak" channel.

On this festive day hundreds of thousands of people, including pilgrims from all over the world, arrived in our country to take part in religious processions to the Holy Dormition Lavra in Ukraine.

"The adoption of Christianity by the Holy Prince Vladimir radically changed the life of our ancestors. And the Gospel commandments united our people into a powerful state of Kievan Rus," said Met. Clement.

The 1032nd anniversary of the adoption of Orthodoxy was celebrated by our Church in 2020. The spokesperson for the UOC spoke about the peculiarities of holding religious processions during the previous five years and reminded us that on the Baptism of Rus, hundreds of thousands of believers gathered in Kyiv to prayerfully unite near the monument to Prince Vladimir and to make a joint prayer at the main holy site of Ukraine – Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Every year on July 28 in every eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church thanksgiving masses with festive chimes are celebrated. The ringing of church bells and prayer unite all Ukraine on this day.
