His Beatitude participates in Independence Day celebrations
On August 24, the 31st anniversary of Ukrainian independence, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine took part in the celebration of Independence Day, "Prayer for Ukraine", at St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv, reports the UOC Informational and Educational Department.
The celebration on the territory of the National Reserve "St. Sophia of Kyiv" was led by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry was accompanied by Metropolitan Anthony, the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan of Boryspil and Brovary.
The Primate addressed the President of Ukraine, heads and representatives of denominations and religious organizations, congratulating them on the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
After all speeches, the choir sang the spiritual anthem "Great God, One, Save Ukraine for Us!”
The Head of State congratulated the heads of denominations and religious organizations on Independence Day and thanked them for the spiritual support of the Ukrainian people.
As reported, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church received Russian prisoners of war in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
