**TIRANA, ALBANIA —** On January 25, 2026, the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania marked the [one-year anniversary](https://orthodoxalbania.org/2020/en/2026/01/25/one-year-memorial-of-the-repose-of-the-blessed-archbishop-anastasios/) of the repose of the blessed Abp. Anastasios with a solemn memorial at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana. Clergy, monastics, and faithful gathered in prayerful remembrance of the hierarch whose leadership restored Orthodox life in Albania after decades of persecution.

The Divine Liturgy and memorial service were accompanied by reflections on Abp. Anastasios’ enduring spiritual legacy. Abp. John, who presided at the commemoration, emphasized that remembrance is not merely ceremonial but essential for drawing strength and guidance from the life of the departed shepherd.

Anastasios’ witness of faith expressed through service, unity, and hope, noting that his life demonstrated the Resurrection not as abstract doctrine but as lived reality within the Church and society.
