**MONTRÉAL, CANADA —** A devastating fire has [destroyed](https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story%5Ffbid=1368072938693163&id=100064714092377&mibextid=wwXIfr&rdid=6BFHbjycFbSAzFKP) the worship space of the Romanian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas just as the faithful enter Holy and Great Lent, leaving the parish without a place to gather for prayer.

According to a statement issued by Fr. Andrei Cretu and the parish council, the blaze consumed everything used for the community’s liturgical life, including Holy Vessels, vestments, service books, icons, and sacred objects. No one was injured. The building was not owned by the parish, and leaders clarified that fundraising efforts are not intended to rebuild the structure, but to relocate and restore parish life.
