This year’s conference, held for the first time in the American South, explores Tolkien’s portrayal of monsters, demons, and dark lords through the lens of Orthodox Christian thought.

The three-day event will feature lectures by Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick, Dr. Cyril Gary Jenkins, and Dcn. Seraphim Richard Rohlin, examining the theological and symbolic significance of Tolkien’s monsters, including Balrogs, dragons, Nazgûl, and werewolves. The schedule includes panel discussions, trivia nights, shared meals, and Divine Liturgy, culminating in a grand feast with music and fellowship.
