**NUUK, GREENLAND —** Bp. Makarios concluded a weeklong [pastoral mission](https://www.facebook.com/reel/2130823687758120) to Greenland on March 22, 2026, calling on the faithful to “melt the glaciers” in their hearts through faith and spiritual renewal. Reflecting on the challenges of ministering in extreme conditions, he emphasized both the hardships and the profound spiritual fruits of the mission.

Despite temperatures dropping to minus 32 degrees, Bp. Makarios described moments of grace during the Divine Liturgy, noting that the rising sun served as a reminder of Christ as the “Sun of Justice.” He highlighted the growth of Orthodox life in the region, including the baptism of a young Greenlander who received the name Cleopas.
