**ENDICOTT, NY —** Clergy and altar servers from across the New York State Deanery [gathered](https://www.nynjoca.org/news%5F260508%5F4.html) on May 2, 2026, at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church for a retreat led by Abp. Michael, centered on Christ’s words, “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14). The gathering focused on formation, instruction, and strengthening liturgical service among youth serving at the Holy Altar.

The day began with altar servers assisting in the vesting of the Archbishop before the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, gaining hands-on experience with episcopal services. Participants were instructed in practical liturgical roles, including use of the trikiri and dikiri (candleholders), handling service books, assisting with ablutions, and learning movements required during hierarchical worship.
