**TAMPA BAY, FL** **—** The [Young Adult League](https://atlmetropolis.org/news/return-of-yal-metropolis-) (YAL) conference returned to the Metropolis of Atlanta for the first time in 16 years, bringing together 240 participants from 23 U.S states and Canada for four days of worship, educational activities and community service.

The YAL conference took place October 9-12 in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida under the theme "Anchored in Christ." Participates attended workshops and group discussions focused on developing their relationship with God and applying Orthodox teachings to everyday life.

In partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay, attendees gathered 2,000 supply bags for families in need. The supplies were sufficient to stock all five of the organization's houses on Davis Island for three months.

The conference was organized by a committee of 18 young adults led by Rev. Fr. Sampson N. Kasapakis, director of the Metropolis of Atlanta's YAL Conference. Organizers spent the previous year planning the event, which received financial support from donors, local parishes, and members of the Greek Orthodox Community.

The gathering allowed for participants to meet Orthodox Christians from outside their local parishes, with social events including overlooking the Tampa Bay skyline, Greek dancing, and a cruise at the Tampa Bay Harbor.

The conference concluded its program with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by Metr. Sevastianos of Atlanta, joined by Rev. Fr. Sampson N. Kasapakis and all 240 participants.

For the participants, the conference brought together practical service and spiritual formation. Its return after a 16-year absence restored a regional gathering meant to bring the Orthodox youth together from across North America.

Previously, the [UOJ reported](https://uoj.news/news/young-aspiring-chanters-conference-to-gather-in-dallas/) that a conference for young aspiring chanters would gather in Dallas.
