# Metr. Tikhon Welcomed Metr. Saba to St. Nicholas Cathedral

**WASHINGTON, D.C. —** His Beatitude Metr. Tikhon [welcomed](https://www.oca.org/news/headline-news/metropolitan-tikhon-welcomes-metropolitan-saba-to-st-nicholas-cathedral) His Eminence Metr. Saba, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, to St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Washington on Monday, September 28.

Upon his arrival, Metr. Saba was greeted by Metr. Tikhon and Archpriest Valery Shemchuk, who gave him a tour of the cathedral. The hierarchs then spent time together in hospitality and fraternal conversation.

Their discussions focused on the life and witness of the Orthodox Church in North America, as well as matters affecting world Orthodoxy. The two hierarchs also considered ways that the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) and the Antiochian Archdiocese could deepen their relationship and expand cooperation.

The visit highlighted the fraternal ties between the two hierarchs and their shared interest in strengthening cooperation among Orthodox Christians in North America. The meeting between the primates of the two jurisdictions comes as both churches continue their respective ministries among Orthodox faithful across the continent.
