# New Orthodox Calendar App Lampada Now Available for iPhone

**TRENTON, NJ —** A new Orthodox [calendar application](https://www.nynjoca.org/news%5F260917%5F1.html) for iPhone, Lampada — Orthodox Calendar, has been released with the blessing of Abp. Michael of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey. The app was created by Nektarios (Manny) Montiel, a parishioner of St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in Trenton, New Jersey.

Lampada is designed as a daily companion for Orthodox Christians, bringing together the Church calendar, Scripture readings, fasting guidance, commemorations of the saints, prayers, and other resources in a single application. Its calendar data, readings, and commemorations follow the liturgical calendar of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA).

Among the app’s features are daily fasting information, Epistle and Gospel readings, prokeimenon and patristic commentary, and information about the saints and commemorations of the day. The app also includes troparia and kontakia and a growing prayer book containing morning and evening prayers, prayers at meals, the Hours, and other prayers.

Lampada also includes home- and lock-screen widgets displaying the day’s fasting information. A private preparation-for-confession section allows users to keep notes on their devices, while the Fasting Kitchen provides recipes corresponding to the fasting discipline for the day.

The application is [free to download](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lampada-orthodox-calendar/id6783883692) and use, with an optional premium subscription that expands the Fasting Kitchen with additional meal-planning and recipe features. Lampada is currently available for iPhone running iOS 17 or later, while an Android version is planned.
