**WASHINGTON, D.C. —** The Orthodox Church in America (OCA) has acquired a [new property](https://www.oca.org/news/headline-news/orthodox-church-in-america-acquires-new-metropolitans-residence-and-chancery-in-washington-dc) in Washington, D.C., that will serve as the residence of Metr. Tikhon and the new home of the OCA Chancery. The property is located just steps from St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, bringing the Primate’s residence and central administrative offices into close proximity with the Church’s Primatial Cathedral.

The acquisition completes the relocation of the OCA’s central offices from Oyster Bay Cove, New York, where the former Chancery was located, and from temporary offices established in Springfield, Virginia, in 2022\. Church leaders said the new location will strengthen the liturgical, pastoral, and administrative life of the OCA.

The property’s location in the nation’s capital will also provide space for welcoming hierarchs, clergy, faithful, dignitaries, and other visitors while facilitating engagement with ecclesiastical, diplomatic, and civic institutions.

The purchase was made possible through a gift from the late Joseph and Theresa Domanick. Metr. Tikhon expressed gratitude for their generosity, saying, “May this new home serve the Church faithfully and strengthen her witness and ministry for many years to come.”

The acquisition received unanimous support from the OCA Holy Synod and Metropolitan Council. Chancellor Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino called it “a monumental step in the life of the Orthodox Church in America,” noting that the new location brings together the Church’s primatial, liturgical, pastoral, and administrative functions.

Final preparations for Metr. Tikhon’s move are underway, including furnishing the property and transferring materials from the temporary and former Chancery locations.

Previously, the [UOJ reported](https://uoj.news/news/oca-to-observe-church-musician-sunday-on-october-4/) that the OCA was to observe Church Musician Sunday on October 4.
