**TORONTO, CANADA —** The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada has designated Sts. Iakovos (Tsalikis) of Evia, Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia, and Paisios of Mt. Athos as its [patron saints](https://orthodoxtimes.com/saints-iakovos-porphyrios-and-paisios-named-patrons-of-the-greek-orthodox-archdiocese-of-canada/). The decision was unanimously adopted during the first clergy assembly presided over by Abp. Apostolos of Canada, following his proposal.

The three saints will be commemorated together annually on November 22, the feast day of St. Iakovos of Evia. Abp. Apostolos said the designation is intended to provide younger generations, particularly children born and raised in Canada, with contemporary examples of Christian faith and holiness.

“Our children and young people need living examples of faith and holiness,” the Archbishop said, expressing his hope that they would become better acquainted with the lives and spiritual teachings of the three saints. He highlighted their prayer, humility, discernment, and selfless love, adding that modern audiovisual recordings offer young people opportunities to hear the saints' voices and learn from their teachings.

Abp. Apostolos also announced that he would bring the last epitrachelion, or priestly stole, worn by St. Iakovos, which is preserved by the Archdiocese, to Toronto's Archdiocesan Cathedral of St. Nicholas for veneration during the November 22 celebrations. He further expressed hope that a church dedicated to all three saints could eventually be built in Canada.
