The Council includes 17 revealed saints, while the relics of 11 of them are kept in the Assumption Cathedral for public veneration. Festive services began on September 23 with the Ninth Hour, Small Vespers, and the All-Night Vigil. On the feast day, September 24, the monastery brethren and pilgrims gathered for morning prayers, the Midnight Office, and the reading of the Third and Sixth Hours before the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. The liturgical singing was led by the fraternal choirs under Archimandrite Arseny (Vanyushin) and Archimandrite Raphael (Popov). Following the Liturgy, the clergy served a water blessing and glorified the venerable fathers of Sviatohirsk. A long life was then sung for Metr. Arseny of Sviatohirsk and the monastery's inhabitants, with the celebration concluding with a traditional festive meal. Among the saints whose relics are venerated in the Assumption Cathedral are Sts. John the Recluse, Arsenius, Germanus, Longinus, Theodosius, Cyprian, Joannikius, and Isaacius, as well as the confessors Tryphon, Michael, and John. The feast coincides with the date of the repose of the venerable confessor John (Streltsov), who died in 1970 and spoke during his lifetime of the future revival of the monastery, which had been closed in 1922\. Metr. Arseny has noted that the 17 known saints represent only those whose names have been revealed, while the full number of holy ascetics who labored in the Holy Mountains remains known to God.
