Old Paths Orthodox Press Announces Release of St. Theophan Commentary on Romans
Old Paths Orthodox Press will release the first volume of St. Theophan the Recluse’s verse-by-verse commentary on Romans, blending patristic insights with his own theological analysis.
Old Paths Orthodox Press has announced the upcoming release of the first volume of a two-part commentary on the Epistle of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Romans by St. Theophan the Recluse. This scholarly work focuses on the first eight chapters of Romans and offers a detailed, verse-by-verse analysis of the text.
The commentary draws extensively on the insights of early Church Fathers and patristic commentators, including St. John Chrysostom, Blessed Theodoret, Ambrosiaster, Theophylact, Oecumenius, and others, while incorporating St. Theophan’s own theological reflections. By blending traditional patristic interpretation with St. Theophan’s spiritual guidance, the work provides readers with both deep doctrinal insight and practical application for personal and communal Orthodox Christian life.
This publication is intended for scholars, clergy, and lay readers seeking a deeper understanding of Pauline theology, the early Church’s interpretation of Scripture, and the spiritual richness of Orthodox tradition. The second volume will continue the commentary in a future release.
The book will soon be available for purchase here.
