Metr. Sawa led vibrant Nativity celebrations in Warsaw, emphasizing Christ’s birth as a source of spiritual renewal, unity, and joy for the faithful.
WARSAW — On January 6–7, 2026, the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw hosted the grand celebrations of the Nativity of Christ, presided over by Metr. Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland. The festivities began with the All-Night Vigil, during which the Metropolitan delivered a homily emphasizing the spiritual and cosmic significance of Christ’s birth, highlighting humanity’s reconciliation with God and the hope for overcoming sin and division.
The central Divine Liturgy drew a large congregation, many of whom received the Holy Eucharist. During the service, the Christmas Message of the Synod of Bishops and greetings from the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, were read. Children received festive gifts, and the faithful participated in communal carols and doxologies.
The celebrations concluded with a solemn procession and the Metropolitan’s paternal blessing, as parishioners shared greetings and rejoiced in the feast, reaffirming unity, faith, and joy within the Polish Orthodox community.
