Chancellor of the UOC: Verkhovna Rada appeal to Patriarch Bartholomew is a PR project (VIDEO)

Adopted on June 16 appeal of the Verkhovna Rada to the Patriarch of Constantinople on the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, in fact, does not affect anything, said the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) to a UOJ correspondent.

"This decision is nothing more than just PR for certain parties, - said Metropolitan Anthony. - Politicians cannot boast of achievements in the economic or social front, and therefore resorted to steps that would show at least "virtual" victory over "virtual" problems.

It is also important that the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada to the Patriarchate of Constantinople is merely symbolic. It does not have a real impact."

Recall that the draft resolution on the appeal to the Patriarch of Constantinople received 245 votes of the people’s deputies on 16 June. Among its initiators  are the authors of anti-clerical bills Viktor Yelenskiy, Andrei Levus and Sergei Vysotskiy, as well as Speaker Andrei Parubiy.
