MPs want to make Catholic Christmas a day off
As explained in the commentary, the bill will be registered in the near future, but the exactly date of its hearing in the session hall is still unknown. "We will discuss this issue. I think the initiative should pass easily. Because one way or another in the world the Latin Christmas Day, December 25, is a day off. It is a matter of cultural tradition, a certain flexibility and adherence to a common global Christian calendar. Presentation of the bill is an attempt to gradually and gently act in an obvious direction, without causing noise and speculation," said Irina Podoliak.
Also the bill points out that the official day off, January 7, will not be cancelled in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that according to Irina Podoliak, changes and amendments to the list of state official holidays were introduced to the Labour Code draft, which was submitted to the Parliament last year.
