Jewish community is outraged by the appearance of Shukhevich Avenue in Kiev
He said that the decision of the deputies of the Kiev City Council to rename the Vatutin Avenue in honor of Shukhevich caused outrage in the Jewish community.
The same opinion was expressed by the participants in the US global forum of American Jewry, which was attended, among others, by the Congress and the State Department members.
"One who fought on the side of Hitler’s Germany, who wore the military uniform of the Wehrmacht and served in the battalion of the German auxiliary police, defending the criminal Third Reich, cannot be considered a hero. Shukhevich Avenue in Kiev is an amoral propaganda of collaboration with the most terrible evil in the history of mankind, "the chief rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman wrote on his Facebook page.
