ROC: The ark with the relics of New Martyrs will remind people of the revolution and persecutions of the Church
"Five arches with the relics of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church were made," said Metropolitan Yuvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna at a conference marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the era of the Church persecution. "During this year, they will be delivered to the dioceses so that when performing worship services and religious processions, Orthodox believers may honor the memory of our devotees of the twentieth century faith."
A similar action will be held by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. In the autumn, the ark with the relics of St. Tikhon, the first patriarch after the restoration of the patriarchate in Russia in 1917, will be delivered to the USA. It is expected that the shrine will be brought not only to the parishes of the ROCOR, but also to the temples of other Local Orthodox churches of the United States.
So far, more than 1,760 people have been recognized as the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church.
