On June 25, the day of the memory of St. Onuphrius the Great, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, Onuphry led the Divine Liturgy on the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

His Beatitude was concelebrated by metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – in total more than sixty bishops, as well as guests in the holy dignity and clergy of the monastery.

After reading the Holy Gospel, the Primate addressed the flock with the word of the sermon. His Beatitude spoke about the life and the feat of his heavenly patron – St. Onuphrius the Great. His Beatitude also explained the importance of such deserters as St. Onuphrius: they pray for the entire world. The Archpastor urged the believers to be at least a bit like St. Onuphrius.

During the service, a special prayer was offered for peace in Ukraine.

After the dismissal, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry was sung many years. The oldest bishop of the UOC, Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail read out the greeting word of the Primate on his Name Day. His Beatitude thanked the flock for congratulations and blessed everyone. "May through St. Onuphrius’ prayers the Lord saves each of us on the paths of our earthly journey," the Archpastor wished the faithful.

After the Divine Liturgy, the Primate accepted congratulations from the flock.
