Сhaplain of the Kyiv Patriarchate arrested for attacking the office of "17 Channel"

The patrol police in Kramatorsk stopped the priest of the Kiev Patriarchate, Vasily Kosyachenko, for violating the traffic rules. Later, the priest was detained on the basis of the decision by Shevchenkovsky district police department of Kiev about a wanted ad on suspicion of attacking the office of 17 Channel in 2016. This is reported by the IS site.

Owing to the fact of the detention of the cleric, Archbishop of Donetsk and Mariupol of the Kyiv Patriarchate Sergey (Gorobtsov) forbade Vasyl Kosyachenko to conduct services during the investigation.

In 2014-2015, Kosyachenko took part in hostilities, served as a commander of one of the units of the "Right Sector". In mid-2016 began a church career. Already at the beginning of 2017 he received the rank of archpriest and served in Konstantinovka of Donetsk region. In May, he was appointed chaplain of the Kramatorsk Frontier Detachment.

The attack on the "17 Channel" office was committed in the night of February 21, 2016. The offenders tried to kidnap the journalist and damaged the equipment. The general producer of the channel said the attack may have been caused by the coverage of events on Maidan in 2014.
