Religious confrontation brewing in Ostrovets of Ivano-Frankivsk region

On October 22, in the village of Ostrovets of the Gorodenka district, the Ivano-Frankivsk region, representatives of the Kyiv Patriarchate demanded from the UOC community that they could have an opportunity to pray in the St. George the Victorious Church of the UOC. According to the UOJ source, in order not to provoke the conflict, the community of the UOC did not open the church and performed services under the church walls.

On October 22, the radicals promised to seize the church of the UOC. At the same time, there is still no community of the Kyiv Patriarchate in the village of Ostrovets. The church meeting and elections of the ten were held only on October 22 – the newly formed community is not registered anywhere yet.

On Sunday, church raiding did not happen. The community of the UOC and representatives of the Kyiv Patriarchate alternately prayed outdoors near the walls of the church.
