South Carolina Monastery to Host Annual Pilgrimage with St. Anna Icon
A cherished icon with a history of miracles draws pilgrims to a day of prayer and spiritual renewal in South Carolina.
WAGENER, SC — Sts. Mary and Martha Orthodox Monastery will host its 24th Annual Pilgrimage on April 25, welcoming the wonderworking Icon of St. Anna from St. Tikhon’s Monastery for veneration by the faithful of the OCA's Diocese of the South and beyond.
The pilgrimage will begin with Matins at 8:00 a.m. and Divine Liturgy at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Moleben to St. Anna, the Blessing of the Graves, and a communal luncheon. The event will take place rain or shine at St. Mary and Martha Orthodox Monastery, offering participants an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and fellowship.
The icon, commissioned in 1998 in Jerusalem and later brought to the United States, became widely known in 2004 when it began streaming myrrh in Philadelphia. Though no longer weeping, it continues to emit a fragrant scent, and many faithful testify to receiving help and healing through the intercessions of St. Anna.
The monastery encourages the faithful to attend, emphasizing the pilgrimage as a time of grace, repentance, and renewed devotion through the veneration of holy icons.
