Lviv regional council demands immediate adoption of bill No. 5309

On October 25, deputies of the Lviv regional council adopted an appeal to the people's deputies with a request to immediately adopt bill No. 5309. The bill proposes to amend the name of religious organizations whose control center is located in the country recognized by the Verkhovna Rada as an aggressor country, reports galinfo.

The appeal was favored by 54 deputies.

"This is especially true in the context of the numerous cases when representatives of the clergy of the UOC hide from the faithful information about the belonging of the church organization to the Moscow Patriarchate, thus misleading the citizens of Ukraine and indirectly distorting the constitutional right of everyone to freedom of conscience," the appeal says.

Experts and religious figures have repeatedly stressed the anti-constitutional and discriminatory nature of bill No. 5309.
