Murayev: Primate of UOC should be carried in the arms for contribution to the prisoner exchange

Along with the member of the Tripartite Contact Group, Viktor Medvedchuk, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had a decisive influence on the exchange of prisoners under the "306-for-74" scheme. This was said by the non-factional MP, the head of the political council of the party "For Life" Yevgeny Murayev on December 29 on the air of the NewsOne channel.

The deputy expressed bewilderment why Filaret was present during the exchange of prisoners, as it was His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine who requested Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and President Vladimir Putin to facilitate the prisoner swap.

"People like Metropolitan Onufry should be carried in the arms, because it really brings the Minsk process closer, no matter how we criticize it. This brings the end of the war closer, and it's great," the politician stressed.

Earlier Archbishop Clement of Nezhin and Priluki reported that the UOC, taking the most active part in the exchange of prisoners, distances itself from the political component of this process.

The prisoner exchange took place on December 27 under the "306-for-74" scheme.
