Nishchuk: A "public service for Tomos" to be created In Ukraine

The Public Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience will be created in Ukraine

The work of the new civil service will be coordinated by the Ministry of Culture, said Yevgeny Nishchuk, Minister of Culture of Ukraine, according to 24tv.ua.

“In connection with the bestowal of the Tomos next year, we will create another central body, which will be called the Public Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience,” the minister explained.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Culture said that this service will deal with the issue of national minorities. The project to create a service will be submitted for consideration by the government committee soon.

“So that we will stop any incidents of intolerance towards any ethnic group. We are a poly-religious country, a multi-cultural country with a great cultural diversity. It is necessary to take into account all these moments,” the official said.

As reported earlier, the UOC-KP spokesman Eustraty  Zoria said that the Kiev Patriarchate has a single candidate for the post of head of the church to be created in Ukraine. The name of the candidate will be announced at the “Council”, and the Tomos will be presented to the future head of the Local Church in Constantinople on January 6, 2019, by Patriarch Bartholomew.
