His Beatitude Onuphry takes part in the inauguration of President Zelensky

On May 20, 2019, a ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada was held, at which the sixth President Vladimir Zelensky took the oath of office. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

After fulfilling all the procedures prescribed in the Law, the newly elected President of Ukraine, putting his hand on the Constitution and the Peresopnytsia Gospel, proclaimed the oath to the Ukrainian people.

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine announced that the newly elected President had taken office. The head of state, after receiving the certificate of the President of Ukraine and the symbols of power, a personal seal and a mace, made an inaugural speech.

As the UOJ reported, on April 22, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine sent greetings to the candidate for President of Ukraine V.А. Zelensky on the victory in the election, in which he wished Vladimir Zelensky God’s blessing on the new and responsible way of serving Ukraine and its people.

On April 30, the Primate of the UOC met with the newly elected President.
