State Department spokesman visits Patriarch of the Serbian Church

On November 11, 2019, the U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback visited the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, reports the website of the Serbian Church.

Ambassador of America to Serbia Anthony Godfrey and his assistant also attended the official reception.

Earlier, the former commander of the US Army in Europe, General Ben Hodges, called the Serbian Church a threat to the US in the Balkans.

Later, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov noted that the United States was trying to advance schism throughout the Orthodox world.
