A decades-long vision for on-campus housing at St. Tikhon’s Seminary is becoming a reality as new duplexes rise to serve married seminarians and their families.

SOUTH CANAAN, PA — Construction of long-awaited married student housing at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary is advancing steadily, with major milestones reached during May as the project moves from site preparation to the installation of modular homes.

The housing initiative addresses a longstanding need at the seminary. While single students have traditionally lived in campus dormitories, married seminarians have been required to secure housing in surrounding communities. The new development will provide dedicated on-campus residences within walking distance of both the seminary building and the monastery church, offering greater convenience and support for students and their families.

Earlier this month, workers completed the foundation pour for one of the duplex units, with additional foundation work and concrete pours following. Beginning May 19, the first sections of the modular homes and related components arrived on campus aboard multiple tractor-trailers. The materials have been staged throughout the seminary parking lot and overflow areas as crews prepare for the next phase of construction.

Later this month, the duplex homes are expected to be set into place and roofed. Seminary officials have noted that the project is being funded through the generosity of a private donor and have asked the faithful to continue praying for the success of the undertaking as work progresses.

Previously, the UOJ reported that St. Tikhon's is hosting a summer iconography workshop.
