The monks of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra were locked up by unknown people in building 34. According to the UOJ, someone (perhaps the staff of the reserve) put the lock and the monks were trapped in the room.
The police immediately arrived at the scene, and the monastery's lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, also came to the building.
“The building was locked, with the monks blocked in it. We had to break the lock so that an ambulance could get to the brethren. This is a provocation by some unknown people,” the human rights activist says.
One of the monks, Archdeacon Matthew, felt unwell, but the doctors managed to provide the necessary assistance and hospitalization was not required.
Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Priluky, who was also at the blocked building, called the incident state terrorism and the locked monks – hostages.
As reported, the UOJ is broadcasting the developments in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on its Telegram channel.
