OpenDataBot published data from the State Register, according to which, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, only 685 churches have been transferred from the UOC to the OCU.

Analysts note that before February 2022, there were 8,782 UOC churches in Ukraine, now their number has decreased to 8,097.

Moreover, the process of transition has slowed down. "The peak of transitions occurred in 2023 – then 386 communities joined the OCU. However, from December of last year to April 2024, their number increased by only 96 churches," OpenDataBot reports.

Three regions lead in transferring churches to the OCU structure: the Kyiv region, with 164 churches transferred; Khmelnytsky and Vinnytsia regions – 155 and 75 respectively.

The largest number of UOC churches continue to operate in the Donetsk region – 683 communities. Next are the Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions – with 526 churches each.

As reported, the UOC Chancellor provided information on the number of dioceses, parishes, and priests for the year of 2022.
