CHICAGO — The Pastoral School of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America has opened applications for the Spring 2026 semester, continuing its mission to provide accessible Orthodox Christian theological education through distance learning. Applications are due February 1, 2026, with classes beginning February 9.

The school offers flexible full-time and part-time study, summer courses, and instruction in English, Russian, and Spanish. Academic programs include a 63-credit Diploma in Pastoral Theology, a 51-credit Diploma in Orthodox Studies, and a one-year Catechist Certificate, with pathways for further study. The Pastoral Theology program is required for ordination candidates in the diocese who lack seminary training.

Courses are delivered online and supported by qualified faculty and local clergy mentors, with practical ministry training emphasized. Graduates receive diplomas or certificates registered with the Illinois Department of Education.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Met. Nicholas led a memorial for Abp. Peter in Illinois.
