Romanian Patriarchate Sends Aid to Mt. Athos Monasteries
The Romanian Patriarchate has delivered books and food aid to monastic communities on the Holy Mountain in a major pastoral visit.
MT. ATHOS — A delegation from the Romanian Patriarchate arrived on Mount Athos last week to deliver books and humanitarian aid to Romanian monastic communities on behalf of Patr. Daniel.
The Patriarchate sent 1,450 volumes — comprising 290 distinct titles for monastic libraries — along with eight tons of non-perishable food intended for distribution across Romanian sketes and cells on the Athonite peninsula. The materials include editions of Holy Scripture, patristic works, liturgical texts, and volumes on spirituality, church history, homiletics, and music.
The aid will be distributed to several Romanian monastic communities, including the Prodromos Skete of the Honourable Forerunner, Lakkoskete, and cells located in the territory of Vatopedi Monastery such as St. Hypatius, St. George-Colciu, and St. John the Baptist-Colciu. The delegation was received at Lakkoskete by hieromonk Mihail Bozga and local monastic elders.
The visiting group includes representatives from multiple departments of the Romanian Patriarchate, as well as media and publishing officials.
