Metr. Saba Announces First Youth and Young Adult Ministry Summit
Metr. Saba is urging parishes to invest in youth ministry leaders through the Archdiocese’s inaugural leadership summit.
ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Metr. Saba has called on clergy and parish leaders throughout the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America to support participation in the Archdiocese’s first-ever Youth and Young Adult Ministry Summit, scheduled for this fall.
In a June 17 letter addressed to clergy and parish councils, the Metropolitan described the gathering as an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation among those responsible for ministering to young people. The summit will bring together youth directors, church school directors and teachers, camp leaders and staff, and young adult ministry leaders from across the Archdiocese.
Metr. Saba emphasized that Orthodox communities face growing challenges in passing the Faith to the next generation and said the summit is intended to foster a shared vision while providing opportunities for learning, collaboration, and spiritual renewal. The event will feature both general sessions and specialized workshops tailored to individual ministry areas.
Among the featured speakers will be Rev. Dr. George Parsenios, who will deliver the keynote addresses. Workshop presentations are also planned from V. Rev. Fr. Michael Nasser, Rev. Dr. Greg Abdalah, Dr. Ann Bezzerides, and Shamassy Shell Keim.
Quoting St. John Chrysostom’s exhortation to prioritize the spiritual formation of children, Metr. Saba encouraged parishes to help ministry leaders attend the summit and to ensure that financial concerns do not prevent participation in the gathering.
Registration for the event can be found here.
