ATHENS — Filming has concluded for a new television series about St. Joseph the Hesychast, produced by the Saint Maximus Institute and scheduled to air on the Greek television channel Mega this winter.

As reported by Orthodoxia News Agency, the series will trace the saint’s life from childhood through his monastic vocation, portraying his upbringing on the island of Paros, his struggles to support his impoverished family, and the spiritual trials that shaped his life. Despite disappointments, persecution, and personal hardships, he remained steadfast in his trust in God.

The production will also explore the traditions and religious life of Paros, as well as the ascetic life of Mount Athos, the struggle against temptations, and the practice of inner prayer.

Actor Tasos Lekkas will portray the young Francis, the future St. Joseph the Hesychast, through his entry into monastic life. Aris Servetalis will play the saint in his later years, depicting the more advanced stages of his spiritual journey. Servetalis is well known for his depiction of St. Nektarios of Aegina in the film "Man of God."

The screenplay was written by Giorgos Tsakkas, and Haris Vafeiadis directed the series. The cast also includes numerous well-known Greek actors.
