Patr. John X Receives Metr. Saba in Balamand
Patr. John X and Metr. Saba Esber met in Balamand to discuss the North American archdiocese’s ecclesiastical and pastoral affairs.
BALAMAND, LEBANON — Patr. John X of Antioch and All the East received Metr. Saba Esber of New York and All North America at the Patriarchal headquarters in Balamand on October 14, 2026. The meeting focused on the situation of the Archdiocese and matters concerning its ecclesiastical life and pastoral ministry.
The two hierarchs discussed issues affecting the diocese, including its pastoral needs and broader church affairs. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch.
Metr. Saba leads the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, which serves Orthodox Christian communities throughout the continent under the spiritual authority of the Patriarchate of Antioch.
The Patriarchate’s announcement did not provide further details about the topics discussed or indicate whether any decisions or initiatives resulted from the meeting. However, Metr. Saba gave a short talk while visiting.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Patr. John X received the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon at Balamand.
