Abp. Kyrill has been discharged after a post-procedure hospitalization and continues recovery under medical supervision.
SAN FRANCISCO — His Eminence Abp. Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America has been released from the hospital following a brief but serious post-operative setback after a recent cardiac procedure.
The 71-year-old Archbishop had undergone a heart ablation on Tuesday, June 16. While initial reports indicated that he felt well after the procedure, his condition required urgent hospitalization early Thursday morning, prompting concern among clergy and faithful across the diocese.
By Sunday, June 21, diocesan officials provided an update stating that Abp. Kyrill’s condition had improved significantly after treatment and stabilization. The announcement confirmed that he had been discharged from the hospital, though his recovery remains ongoing and he continues to be monitored.
In a message shared through the diocese, Abp. Kyrill expressed gratitude for the prayers and messages of support he received during his hospitalization. He also asked the faithful to continue praying for his recovery, noting that his condition still requires attention as he recuperates following the medical episode.
Previously, the UOJ reported that an icon of St. Ephraim of Nea Makri streamed myrrh at a Greek hospital, attracting pilgrims and inspiring devotion among the faithful.
