Seventh Annual St. Herman Pan-Orthodox Campout Set for Kentucky
Orthodox Christians from across the region will gather near Cumberland Falls for a weekend of prayer, worship, fellowship, and outdoor activities.
CUMBERLAND FALLS, KY — Orthodox Christians from Kentucky, Tennessee, and surrounding states will gather Sept. 25–27 for the seventh annual St. Herman Pan-Orthodox Campout near Cumberland Falls.
The gathering began in 2020 as an outdoor opportunity for Orthodox Christians to share fellowship and prayer. It has since developed into an annual Pan-Orthodox event attracting participants from the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese, Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), and other Orthodox communities. Last year, participants came from at least eight parishes.
This year’s campout will be centered at Falls Creek Campground, which offers primitive campsites, rustic cabins, upgraded cabins, and RV sites with hookups. The weekend will begin Friday evening with an Akathist and continue Saturday with another Akathist, a group hike, Great Vespers, confessions, and an informal music gathering.
The campout will conclude Sunday with an 8 a.m. Divine Liturgy. Between services and organized activities, families will have opportunities for hiking, games, campfires, conversation, and fellowship. Clergy and their families are invited to participate, while parishes are encouraged to promote the event among their members. Clergy who wish to serve should contact the event coordinator.
