Metr. Tikhon Congratulates Metr. Onuphry on 12th Anniversary as UOC Primate
Metr. Tikhon congratulated Metr. Onuphry on 12 years as UOC Primate and assured him of the OCA’s prayers and fraternal support.
SPRINGFIELD, VA — Metr. Tikhon of All America and Canada, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), sent greetings to Metr. Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine marking the 12th anniversary of his election as Primate of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
In his message, Metr. Tikhon assured Metr. Onuphry of the prayers and support of the clergy and faithful of the OCA. He praised the Ukrainian hierarch for providing spiritual care to his flock during what he described as exceptionally difficult trials.
Metr. Tikhon said Metr. Onuphry’s steadfast ministry during these challenges has demonstrated the hope Christians find in Christ, whom he described as the unfailing Good Shepherd. He also emphasized the OCA’s continuing fraternal support for the UOC.
The OCA Primate prayed that Metr. Onuphry would receive wisdom, courage, and peace for his continued service, along with many years of life. He also expressed hope that the Ukrainian people would soon experience a just and lasting peace.
“I assure you of our unwavering love, fraternal support, and unceasing prayers,” Metr. Tikhon said, extending those assurances to both Metr. Onuphry and the UOC.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Onuphry said war damaged humanity’s spiritual state.
