Greek Jersey Night at Yankee Stadium celebrated Hellenic heritage while raising thousands of dollars for Orthodox youth ministry.

BRONX, NY — Greek heritage, Orthodox faith, and America’s pastime came together at Yankee Stadium on June 18 as thousands of fans gathered for Greek Jersey Night, an annual celebration of Hellenic culture hosted by the New York Yankees.

A highlight of the evening came before the game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox, when Abp. Elpidophoros of America delivered the ceremonial first pitch. Accompanied onto the field by Fr. Elias Villis and Archons Mike Neomonitakis and Bill Grous, the Archbishop received a warm welcome from spectators who filled the stadium for the special event.

The celebration showcased the enduring presence of the Greek Orthodox community in New York and across the United States. Many attendees wore commemorative Greek-themed jerseys and displayed symbols of their heritage, transforming the iconic ballpark into a gathering place for families, parishioners, and supporters of Hellenic culture.

Beyond the festivities, organizers reported that more than $37,000 was raised for Camp St. Paul, the Archdiocesan District’s camping ministry. Now in its 21st season, the program is expected to welcome more than 800 campers this summer, providing young people with opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and faith formation.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Elpidophoros highlighted spiritual fatherhood in his Father’s Day message.
