KHATISOPELI, GEORGIA — As first reported by UOJ-Georgia, a newly built church dedicated to St. Gabriel the Fool-for-Christ was consecrated on January 10, 2026, in the village of Khatisopeli, marking a significant spiritual event for the local Orthodox community. The consecration and festive Divine Liturgy, which began at 9:00 a.m., were celebrated by Abp. Ephrem of Bolnisi, who was joined by clergy from across the diocese.

The church was constructed and furnished through the efforts and support of its benefactor, Kakhi Maghradze, whose contribution was acknowledged during the celebrations. Following the Divine Liturgy, Abp. Ephrem addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon, offering pastoral encouragement and extending his congratulations on the completion and consecration of the new church.

As part of the ceremony, the archbishop publicly thanked Maghradze for his dedication and presented him with commemorative gifts in recognition of his service to the Church. Numerous local residents and parishioners attended the service, filling the new church and participating in the historic occasion.

Previously, the UOJ reported that hundreds of children were baptized in a mass ceremony in Georgia.
