CIOROGÂRLA — The relics of St. Venerable Martyr Evloghia (Țârlea) were exhumed on Thursday at Samurcășești–Ciorogârla Monastery, Basilica News Agency reported, in an event marked by prayer and reflection on her life of service, confession, and martyrdom. Speaking on the occasion, His Grace Bishop Timotei Prahoveanul, Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, described the saint as an enduring example for nuns throughout the Orthodox Church, particularly in the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Canonized last year by the Holy Synod, St. Evloghia was remembered for her witness “in word and deed,” culminating in a martyr’s death after a brutal beating during the communist persecution. Bishop Timotei emphasized the importance of written testimonies in preserving the memory of such figures, noting the role of Protosingelos Nicodim Bujor in recording her life and miracles.
The event took place within the broader Commemorative Year of the Holy Women proclaimed by the Romanian Patriarchate, during which the canonization of 16 holy women is being solemnly proclaimed.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Romanian Orthodox Church proclaimed the local canonization of St. Arsenie Boca.
