SAN FRANCISCO — Organizers of the Walk for Life West Coast announced that Bp. Vasily of San Francisco and the West (OCA) will lead the Orthodox prayer service and deliver the invocation from the rally stage at this year’s march, now just days away.
As previously reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists of America, Orthodox Christians for Life has mobilized clergy and faithful nationwide to participate in major pro-life events in January, including the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and the Walk for Life in San Francisco. The organization gathers Orthodox participants for Divine Liturgy, prayer services, and hymnody, emphasizing a consistent Orthodox witness to the sanctity of human life. UOJ has also noted that Orthodox Christians for Life now includes more than 60 affiliated parishes and coordinates participation in multiple U.S. cities.
Bp. Vasily was elected on July 16, 2025, following the retirement of Abp. Benjamin, and he has served on the faculties of Holy Trinity and St. Vladimir’s seminaries.
Previously, the UOJ reported on Orthodox Christians joining the 2026 March for Life.
